INSTITUTO CERVANTES: Three visions of a city that demands of its inhabitants an extreme level of courage, a city that exchanges bravery for liberty, a city of pioneers. Pioneers who renew themselves in successive migrations, change the nature of the city in waves and, at the same time, keep alive its recognizable character.
What would New York be without the brave ones who inhabit it? The three participating photographers take part in this collective desire to make a space for themselves in this urban landscape. There is no city in the world that so urgently requires a spirit of conquest.
Tres miradas sobre una ciudad que exige un grado extremo de valentía de sus habitantes. Una ciudad que cambia arrojo por libertad. Es, sin duda, una ciudad de pioneros. Pioneros que se renuevan en migraciones sucesivas, que cambian en oleadas la naturaleza de la ciudad y, al mismo tiempo, mantienen vivo su reconocible carácter.
Qué sería de Nueva York sin los valientes que la habitan. Los tres fotógrafos que nos la ofrecen participan también de ese deseo colectivo por hacerse un hueco en esta mole urbana. No hay ciudad del mundo que exija al llega tan imperiosamente un espíritu de conquista. Vinieron de España, quisieron sentir que en algún momento capturaban el espíritu de la ciudad inabarcable, fotógrafos que nos prestan su mirada, y en lo que ven podemos intuir también su propia experiencia .
